Every singer wants to be discovered and given a chance to prove his or her talent. Earlier it needed a bit of luck to meet some music producers who can appreciate their talent. However these days the scenario has changed a little. The emergence of the singing competition based TV shows has changed the rules of the game. They have given a lot of chances to a lot of singers and still continue to do so.

These days three singing contest based TV shows are much more popular than any other shows among the common audience. Here is a look at them.

1. American Idol:

American Idol, the show and its concept has emerged as one of the most prominent pop culture phenomenon around the world. It has seen unmatched success in the United States and has inspired a lot of reality TV shows that were based on the same concept.

The singing competition show started way back in the year 2002, the network was Fox. Now in its 6th season the show has what it needs to keep people engaged in its singing contest.

Gina Glocksen, the third finalist booted out from the American Idol, had discovered that the media is interested more about Sanjaya Malakar than her own experience on the show. Gina Glocksen, however, answered several questions about Sanjaya and, being his friend, she defended him. When asked if it is difficult for them to know if Sanjaya placed higher among the bottom three? Glocksen said it’s quiet tough the the eight finalists made it and she did not. She also added that Sanjaya Malakar is different, meaning that every finalist is unique in his or her own way. Sanjaya is Sanjaya, Jordin is Jordin, Chris is Chris and Blake is Blake, she explained. But for her, America is done with her and she’s fine with it. What does Gina think about Sanjaya hanging in the American idol every week? Gina Glocksen said that she is very proud of the boy because he’s still there and comes out every week and gives his all. Do the American Idol contestants know what is going on outside the show? Glocksen told them that the show is really good at keeping them insulated from the things that are being said about them in order to protect them and not let their performances be affected through the entire week. However, they are free to browse through the Internet, but Sanjaya doesn’t bother with it, much less read what is being said about him. Gina Glocksen doesn’t read what is being said about her as well, and neither do the others. Gina says Sanjaya doesn’t go to her to ask for hairtsyling tips. Each one does his or her own thing for the competition. She also commented on the ever-changing hair of Sanjaya. It was awesome, she says. Are there any grumblings or bad feelings about Sanjaya in the group, specially when it seems that Sanjaya is just putting on a show to amuse audience and thus keep him there week after week? Gina Glocksen said that people are pretty fair about what they say in front of people. Who is the real Sanjaya? Gina Glocksen answered that he is exactly what you seen on TV. Sanjaya doesn’t care what anyone thinks. He only does his things to be proud of himself. She loves Sanjaya for being like that, she adds.

I know it sounds crazy but it’s true… you really can learn a lot about MLM from watching American Idol. Don’t have a clue what I’m talking about? Well check this out! American Idol is the most popular show on T.V…. Why? Could it be Ryan Seacrest’s perfectly coifed head? Could it be Simon’s tiny black t-shirts? The crazy people who think they can sing but really sound like a dying cat? Or could it be that America’s favorite show holds little nuggets of knowledge for the home based business owner? Hmmm… A.I Rule Number One: Keep on keeping’ on! Have you ever seen an audition with someone who has a horrible voice but they just keep singing anyway? Simon tries to stop them and Randy tells them “it just wasn’t good dog” but they still keep going. Ok, ok I know it’s really annoying on the show but in life that is exactly what you have to do. Keep on singing- er prospecting no matter what. You might have to hear a hundred no’s but if you keep on going you’ll get some yes’ too! A.I Rule Number Two: The world is full of Simons He might be mean and nasty but he’s always going to be on the show and trust me there are a lot of Simons out there! People are always going to tell you you’re crazy when you first get started in a home based business it’s just a fact of life. Ignore them and move on. Remember for every Simon there is always a Paula. A.I. Rule Number Three: You gotta stand out! Boring people never make it on American Idol. Even if they are really talented and have great voices if you’re dull you’re probably not gonna make it past the first audition. If you really want to succeed in a home based business you’re going to have to learn to stand out. No you don’t have to dress in a chicken costume… well unless you want to. Just don’t blend it with everyone else! A.I. Rule Number 4: Don’t fake it You don’t have to pretend to be someone else to have success. You can have success in any business as long as you’re the best version of yourself. The voters, um I mean prospects, can always spot a fake and nobody likes a phony.

I am based in the UK and we get the X factor, which is the same as American Idol except for the age limit. With the X Factor, there is no age limit. In the UK, we also get to watch American Idol on ITV2. The best part of these programs has got to be the auditions. Here you will find some of the finest comedy ever seen on television, but does it produce the finest singers. In my opinion defiantly not. Yes, there are some good singers, but no better than I have seen in clubland over the past thirty years. As a keyboard player I have worked with thousands of singers some totally rubbish some are ok, you know, a nice singer. Then you have the good singers, well rehearsed, and well dressed a bit of polish to the act. Then you have the WOW what a singer. I can count them on one hand in over thirty years of working in clubland. Now this is just my humble opinion of course. I am not a singer; I’ve just worked with lots of them. Granted I work in back street clubs and pubs and American Idol has the best equipment, musicians, producers, promotion and the whole world to sell it to, but a singer is a singer right. The only difference is the environment one is a pie and a pint the other is caviar and champagne. So maybe the title of this blog should read, “Does the X Factor and American Idol Produce Great Television?” absolutely, one hundred percent YES. Now be honest, how many of you are not that bothered about watching or don’t bother to record the show once the auditions are over. All right some of you, but that’s only because Simon Cowell is dishing the dirt. I know some of the singers that applied for the X factor and they didn’t even reach the auditions stage. Not because they are bad singers, if they were bad they would probably reach the auditions. The reason is, they are not good enough to make it all the way and they are not bad enough or funny enough to make good television. I certainly wish all the singers that have won these competitions the very best. Will they be top selling artist? I haven’t seen much evidence of that in the UK. I must conclude that the X factor and American Idol create great television and make millions of pounds/dollars and give an extraordinary opportunity for a few not great, but good singers.
